Every year we begin to see a lot of pink around this time. In 2017, according to the American Cancer Society, there were over 250,000 cases of invasive breast cancer. My heart goes out to each and every individual and their families who find themselves in this category, but I am here to share with you a new and drugless approach for optimal breast health, and that is breast thermography.
At our practice in Cleveland and here in Naples, we are helping women to create a roadmap into their health future with a non-invasive approach via thermography.
“Dr. Bob, what exactly IS thermography?”
According to Meditherm, thermography is, “A painless, non-invasive, state of the art clinical test without any exposure to radiation and is used as part of an early detection program which gives women of all ages the opportunity to increase their chances of detecting breast disease at an early stage. It is particularly useful for women under 50 where mammography is less effective.”
Here are a few more questions we commonly are asked …
Who should receive breast thermography?
Anyone who is looking to have an assessment to monitor function in your body. This is true especially for females age twenty-five and up. It is also a useful idea to annually receive a breast thermography assessment.
Who should not get breast thermography?
A. Women who are pregnant or are breastfeeding. Please wait three months after you have stopped breastfeeding.
B. Individuals who are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. Please wait three months after your procedure has finished.
Will breast thermography show if I have breast cancer?
Thermography is a functional assessment, and it detects temperature changes in breast tissue over time which may indicate neovascularity or lymphatic issues. The information collected in the scan is sent to a board-certified thermologist who creates a customized report for your healthcare provider to review with you. If there is something suspicious that shows up on your scan, the certified healthcare provider will discuss it with you.
Now, I am sure that you may have questions because I always seem to receive plenty from both men and women about this topic, which is why I invite you to view our section on breast thermography at druglessdrs.com/breast-thermography.
